MISSION

This site was created in Memory of the love of my life, Vince. He passed away suddenly on May 1, 2007, while using cocaine. He thought he was in control..."Save my life...save my life." Those are the words Vince would say to me when he felt overwhelmed by his addiction. As we know, we can't save them - they have to make the choice to seek help and save themselves. Too many people aren't aware that using narcotics will alter their brain chemistry limiting the ability to feel good without the drug, as well as impact their impulse control. Users need professional help to overcome the chemical changes that have taken place in their brain in order to become drug free once again. That is why it is so important to say no - the first time!

Losing Vince to his addiction has been a difficult journey. I do not use drugs, but I lived every moment beside Vince as he struggled to maintain his sobriety. Vince woke up one fateful day with no intention of using - so you see, when you love an addict, or are yourself an addict, you never know what your day will bring. I remember a conversation we had a few weeks prior to his passing. I told him "Honey, if anything ever happened to you, I would help save peoples lives for you." His beautiful blue eyes filled with tears, and he replied in a soft voice, "I would love that..." That is why I founded Look Beyond Addiction and how the eye logo came to be.  Vince matters. You matter. Your loved ones matter. The people behind Look Beyond Addiction believe everyone matters. It's time to Unite, Prevent, and bring Hope and Support to those who still have today!

We will unite and shine the light of hope for people in our communities living in the shadow of addiction. Together, we will create a new generation of informed individuals who fully understand the physiological impact of using narcotics. Every second counts. Every day counts. Every person counts.
